We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Technical Manager to build a team (initially expected to be 5 direct reports) with overall technical ownership of the developer website and our other externally facing websites. This is an excellent career move and a ground floor opportunity to establish a high impact team to ensure we continue to provide a world class environment to the developer community, who are key to the company's on-going success.

The web development team is responsible for:

Overall technical ownership of companys outward facing websites to ensure a compelling user-experience for the developers and other users. Developing and integrating all web software including the web-server itself, user management modules, content management system, forums, Wikis, and other content-specific modules (e.g. source-code cross references).

Providing 24/7 availability, operation and support of web sites. On-going maintenance and monitoring of the website working with an external hosting company.

Working closely with the content and design teams in London to ensure our websites remain the hub of the community.

Key Tasks

Overall responsibility for all team activities. Analyzing user requirements to define technical solutions that meet customers real needs and exceed their expectations. Project management of all team activities (including budget ownership) and reporting progress to senior management.

Leadership and management of technical team members; including recruitment, objective setting, appraisals and career planning.
Supplier management of website hosting company and software suppliers.
Planning and roadmaps.
Reporting on team progress.
Contributing to the success of all Developer Product Marketing activities.

Essential Qualifications

PMP is desirable
Marketing is desirable
An intuitive understanding of what makes a successful developer website.
An ability to lead a cross functional and high performance team committed to on time delivery.
Project Management using both structured and agile methodologies; using MS Project.
An ability to build effective relationships and work with suppliers.
An ability to focus on the end-to-end story while maintaining attention to detail.
A demonstrated ability at working in virtual, globally distributed extended teams.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate:

Expert practical knowledge of developing and integrating web technologies; e.g. Java, JavaScript, XML, CSS, Servlets, J2EE, Perl, Python, Flash, Tomcat, Apache. Excellent general understanding of web related 3rd party platforms, and tools (e.g. Confluence, Jive, JIRA).
